Summer 2018, I was lucky enough to be able to live in London while studying Digital Humanities. We visited numerous museums, galleries, archives and attended lectures.
Some of my highlights include:
• Victoria & Albert Museum
• The Tate Museum
• Library (UX research)
• 360 camera project (trip to Oxford)
• Immersive performance
• Cartographer's Confession
Along with learning about all sorts of unique up and coming technology.
EX: ghost story app that connects with your location and uses your phone's camera and microphone, along with your recently visited locations, to tailor the story custom to the user.
This experience was productive to my overall learning of technology and opened my eyes for new ways that interactions can take place, as well as how past advancements have shaped our everyday world. One of the most compelling parts was a survey at the end of the "Future is Here" exhibit in the Victoria & Albert Museum gaging the feelings people have about the future, and the overwhelming majority said they feared for it. As a designer it is our job to change that fear to excitement, and not be scared of AI taking over but rather tailoring it to make our lives easier and propelling the potential for creation.
